And Then There Were KITTENS!
Last time I left off, you might remember we were at the Thousand Trails in Colonial Beach. I had whiney teenagers and we had the campground kitty following us around. That same night, she was meowing at my RV door and my heart was hurting. I wanted to let her in but it was evident that she had fleas. And I didn’t want them in the RV, they’re really hard to get rid of.
I knew she was being fed and after a little bit she went on her way. Much to my surprise, it was that very night that she gave birth to four kittens!! Sorry, I didn’t get pictures. You see, at first, they weren’t going to let us see them. They being the kind folks at the RV park who helped her deliver her babies and feed and care for ‘campground kitty’. So, I left the kids playing at the pool with hubby and went back home to get dinner started.
One of the staff came out and asked the kids if they had a good time staying at the RV park. The kids said yes and my husband mentioned that they were a bit disappointed that they didn’t get to see the kittens. So, having a heart, the lady relented and took the kids in to take a peek. And my husband didn’t get a picture. I think they felt privileged enough to get a look and he didn’t want to disturb them.
I was bummed out because I really wanted to see them and get a picture for you. The kids said the cute factor was over the top! They were about 3 inches long and the smallest little things. It’s the first time my kids have seen newborn kittens.
Friends showed up to camp with us on Saturday. We let out the awning and they pitched their tent underneath. It rained and rained and rained while we set it up. The one good thing is we had a concrete pad they could set their tent on and not get wet from underneath. The bad news is when your air mattress deflates in the middle of the night and the concrete pad feels exactly like what it is, rock !
We attended my nieces 2nd birthday party and it was minions all the way baby! It was good to see her, little brother and of course mom and dad. They live within a block of the beach and we hung out for a bit with our toes in the sand. The area of beach we were on was pretty rocky but there is softer sections along the shore.
After we had hot dogs, hamburgers, cake and all the fixings, we bid our goodbyes and headed back to camp. All in all it was a good camping trip. While we were camping, the toad was, well, becoming a toad. The CR-V was outfitted with a baseplate and braking system. It should be ready to fulfill its toad duties when we pull out for PA this week. In my next post, I’ll fill you in on the transformation.
