Fun Hershey, PA Adventures
We had a good time hanging out in Hershey, PA! Once we got settled amongst the numerous stalks of corn, all was well with the world. And let me tell you, there were LOTS of stalks of corn where we were!! It was very beautiful and scenic farm country and it felt good to be living the simpler life.
On Friday, we had friends join us. We helped them put their tent up and get settled. Then we grilled chicken over the fire pit and ate picnic style. This was followed by a dessert of s’mores. The weather was actually very nice because of a storm that came through the night before. Temps in the 80’s, that can’t be beat.
Saturday found us at Hershey’s Chocolate World! We ate lunch (ridiculously priced) and then went on the free chocolate tour. It was Kit Kat’s all around after we exited the ride. We contemplated what to do next. I didn’t want to get sucked into shelling out lots and lots of money. Which is very easy to do with kids in a place called “Chocolate World”! So we decided to do the cookie decorating and a few goodies later, we were out of there.
We headed home to get dinner started and ate in the good old outdoors again. The weather continued to hold steady and it was very pleasant. The kids ran around and played for a bit before the daily pj/brushing teeth ritual. After all, they needed to get rested up for our visit to ZooAmerica the following day!
We left around lunchtime so we stopped off at Chipotle on Chocolate Ave. Yum, Yum! Somehow everything tastes better on Chocolate Avenue {wink, wink}. ZooAmerica was, well, a pretty small zoo. You can read my review here. The important part was the kids had a good time.
The kids got some swimming in after we arrived back at the campground. We had leftovers for dinner and then it was movie time, woohoo! We suffered through Teen Beach Movie 2. It was actually a cute musical and one of our little campers was having a blast dancing to the beat! It was hard getting them to wind down for bed after all that excitement. But alas, the grand finale was the next day.
We got a late start the following day and clouds were threatening to ruin our plans. We took our chances and headed out for HersheyPark! But not before a stop off at Giant Food for discount coupons. The biggest discount was on the adult tickets. Our intentions were to get 2 or 3 day passes for better savings but things didn’t go according to plan. HersheyPark was okay. But then again, I am tainted by Walt Disney World. Well, actually, I think our local theme park, Kings Dominion, actually rivals HersheyPark. But maybe I’m just biased. Read my review here.
On Tuesday, we hung around the campground. As I previously mentioned, we stayed at the Thousand Trails (TT) Hershey RV & Camping Resort. This is a very nice TT campground. I would have to say that it’s one of the best ones I’ve been to yet. We will definitely be returning again. My review can be found here and at Campendium. Later that evening, we said goodbye to our friends and headed out to the lake. It was canoe paddling time! The girls had a good time in their first paddling adventure. I was scared to death they were going to tip the boat!!
All in all, our Hershey adventure was a success and I’m glad I was able to check out the TT park. Our next trip out will be the first of August and we’ll be heading to the Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay RV Camping Resort. Stay posted, more to come!
