Loki the Brave

Before I do my usual post today, I’d like to honor a good friend of the family. Her father died in her arms this morning after 80+ good years on earth. Wish we could be there with you guys. RIP Mr. Keane.

Loki’s brave tale told by none other than himself.

Don't I look BRAVE?!

Don’t I look BRAVE?!

I hear mom coming in the door. But I could sense danger was imminent before she opened it. Out of the corner of my eye, I see something not far from Perl. I seize my opportunity and go out to save the crew.

I dart past mom. Boy oh boy won’t she be proud of me! Protecting us from that nasty looking critter the Peccary. Mom says some people also know them as the Javelina  (pronounced havelina). But never mind that.

I take on the one that’s all by himself. I’m in hot pursuit as it runs along the fence line. Mom is making a lot of fuss, running after me yelling, “Loki, get back here, Loki, come!”. I don’t get why she’s all upset? I’m helping out here. I decide to ignore her.

Wow, this Peccary is pretty darn fast. And it’s bigger than me. But that’s okay, I’m Loki the Brave!! And I have a bark to prove it. “WOOF, WOOF”, take that Peccary. I can take on a whole pack of Peccary’s. Okay, maybe not but this is fun. I chase that rodent all the way to the edge of the cliff.

Now I can hear mom really yelling at FullSizeRender 32me. “Loki, come here, come here NOW Loki!”. She’s really in a panic. Oh well, that varmint is gone. I guess I better go see what all the fuss is about.

I go running into her arms. She hugs me and I give her kisses all over. Even though I like to be a brave pup, it sure does feel nice to be protected and hugged. Then I get some special treats. For being brave and all. Okay, maybe mom said it was, “for FINALLY coming back to her when she called me”. Jeez, some people.

By mom:

All joking aside Mr. Loki, Peccary’s don’t like dogs at all. In fact, there was one attacked the same morning of our fiasco. They look like a pig but they’re not. Here’s some information for those who want to know a little more about Peccary’s.

We have seen several Peccary’s in camp. The latest sighting was the other night when we saw a pack of three or four. In packs, they should be avoided by humans and animals at all cost. So Loki, no more feats of bravery!

Hello to the crew! Auntie G here. Wow! sounds like Loki believes he is the size of a German Shepard! Too funny, honestly I don’t find those thing the slightest bit interesting. Yuck…All is well that ends well. I guess you are in good hands or should we just call him Loki the Lucky…Glad everyone came out of this fiasco without a scratch! They look like they can be mean.
