Our Crazy Vacation
Well hello there folks! Here’s hoping that your year has gotten off to a great start! I’ve been busy, busy wrapping up the old year and ringing in the new one. Not to mention all the stuff in-between that needs to be taken care of. I just thought I’d share a little of our behind the scenes with you.
The Crazy
For some reason, it seems crazy follows us. That’s why RV Lost Yet? is dubbed, A Crazy Travel Adventure! So whether we’re hanging out in Perl or at a resort, crazy always seems to find us. And this vacation has been no exception.
If you’re a loyal reader, you already know that most of the crew is hanging out at the Holiday Inn Resort while I shuttle between the RV so I can care for our furry crew member. My brothers also been taking turns with me.
Over at the Holiday Inn, we’ve had to move rooms not once, but two separate times. The first suite, the pipe under the toilet busted and water was flooding the unit at a VERY fast rate. By the time the unit was vacated, it was still flowing like the Colorado River!
We got moved to another building/unit. This entailed moving a fridge/freezer full of food, all the clothes, pantry items, Christmas presents, toiletries, etc, etc. You get the idea. We’re living here for three weeks, not merely vacationing. What a boat load of fun.
So, a few days later we’re told that we need to move again, on January 1st by 10 a.m. Really, are you guys kidding me?! Why? Because they’re renovating the building we’re in. Jeez guys, maybe you should have thought about that before you moved us here. Ugh!
We planned to stay up late on New Years Eve and have some fun. The last thing we wanted to do is move everything out, AGAIN, by 10 am. We ask, no, we beg to be allowed to move on New Years Eve. They relent and we once again move everything out. Boy, what a relaxing vacation.

The crazy
Okay, we’re promised this is our last move. Unless the pipe under the toilet cracks again – holding my breath over here. Alright, shenanigans over, right? Not quite.
So how did I ring in my New Year? With the PetSmart PetsHotel calling me on New Years Day to tell me Loki (who’s being boarded for a few days so mommy can catch a break) is vomiting blood and has diarrhea.
Just a little background, both dogs I’ve owned died by 2 years of age. One due to epilepsy and the other got hit by a car. So as you can imagine, I immediately go into freak out mode.
They offer to take him over to the Banfield vet. I answer ‘yes’ before they get all the words out. Yes folks, this is how my New Year begins. I wait for four grueling hours and I can’t take it any longer. I call back.
It seems he’s suffering from a case of the nerves. Something called gastro something or other. Apparently this is a common condition with dogs and it doesn’t surprise me. Loki can be pretty high-strung on a good day. Everything else checks out great. Phew!
Once again all we can do is laugh. This pup is at a doggy resort! He’s being treated to all day doggy camp, treats consisting of Kong’s stuffed with peanut butter and gingerbread ice cream. This along with a half hour of individual play time. And HE’S a nervous wreck *sigh*!
So yeah, it’s been pretty crazy over here, as usual. In between all the drama, I moved Perl to her new location. We’re currently hanging out at the Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. Yes, it’s nicer than the Thousand Trails we were at but it’s pretty pricey. Okay, now let’s talk about the ‘fun’ part of the vacation.
The Fun
In-between all the crazy, we’ve been busy having fun too. We did a little bit of shopping
with the kids at the outlet mall. They also wanted to head over to M&M World so we obliged. This place consisted of four floors filled with everything M&M. This included an entire wall of colors and flavors.
We went out on the strip on New Years Eve. You could feel the excitement in the air. It’s just one of those things you have to be there to get a sense for it. Like Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras or the National Mall on the Fourth of July. And yes, I thought of you. Here’s the video of the Bellagio fountain show.
We made it back in time to see the fireworks from the entrance to the resort. They were really good fireworks. Better than some I’ve seen of the Fourth of July. It seems several hotels, to include the Palazzo, let off fireworks on top of their buildings. It was pretty cool to ring in the New Year with a crowd.
We’ve been hitting up all the free stuff out there for the kids to see. They went with dad to the ‘aquarium’ at Silverton. From what I heard, it was more of a wall of fish and less of an ‘aquarium’. So that was kind of a bust.
We saw the Atlantis show at Caesar’s Palace. That was pretty cool. We also ate at the food court there. I’ll try my best never to do that again. Pizza at $8/slice and burgers at $10 and they don’t come with fries. That’s an additional cost, of course.
We also headed over to Flamingo to see the Habitat. The kids love all things animal related so that was a win. We saw flamingos (of course), turtles, ducks and some really big fish. Some of the ducks were feeling a little frisky. I was hoping we weren’t going to have sex education 101 there!
Let’s see, what else have we been up to? Oh, yes, we did get in an itty bitty bit of gambling. Since there are three adults, two of us can go into the casino while the third occupies the kids for a bit. Then we switch it up. This hasn’t worked very well (except to save us money) because the kids can only be occupied for so long.
Finally we’ve been checking out the food. We’ve been to three buffets and two Thai restaurants since we’ve been here. For buffets, we went to The Buffet at Bellagio, Studio B and The Wicked Spoon. The Wicked Spoon topped all the others. I think I mentioned Thai Food to Go and we also went to Lotus of Siam tonight. My Yelp reviews can be found at the links.
The Future
Rumor has it the twins would like to go on the ‘High Roller’ for their birthday. The High Roller is a huge ferris wheel, one of the largest in the world. It’s across the street from our resort. Each section where you would normally sit in a ferris wheel is enclosed with glass. And it’s the size of an apartment~no joke.
They were renting out these ‘cabins’ for $6k on New Years Eve. There’s a bar inside and all kinds of craziness. Of course, we won’t be paying anything close to that. The kids are actually free with a paying adult ($30). And the view from the top is pretty amazing.
So there you have it folks. All the happenings from the crew, right down to the furry member! We’re starting to think of wrapping things up over here. It’s bittersweet as we’ll be moving on and dad will be flying back home. And where will we be heading next? You’ll just have to wait and see :-)!
If you plan on shopping Amazon anytime soon, please click on my Amazon Link and help this blogger out :-). If you order within 24 hours, I’ll get a small compensation and it won’t cost you anything more. I’d be very grateful! Thanks!
