Party Time!
On Friday, I busted Perl out of the RV doctor for a bit (yes, she’s still there and yes, the problem was the most expensive one). We were on a mission, a mission to brighten a friend’s birthday party. Our first stop was the surprise! Perl ambled on into the elementary school parking lot. A special lil guy was going to get out of school a tad bit early to start his birthday weekend. What FUN! He had NO idea that Perl was going to be there to greet him. The video of realization:
After the big reveal, it was off to fill Perl’s refrigerator full of party food: ice cream, cake, potato salad, hot dogs, watermelon, and much, much more. The bays were loaded up with a table, jugs of juice and lots and lots of party game accessories to include pool noodles, pool ring floats and more. And our mascot for the weekend, none other than My LittlePony’s Pinkie Pie! Yes, he’s a boy but he’s also a pony lover! Pinkie Pie played co-pilot until we arrived at the party location.
A sleep over was in order and the following day, we headed over to Aquia Landing Park. It’s a nice park with a sandy beach area that has three coves to swim in. It was pretty windy but died off later in the day. We were just grateful there was no rain!
The kids had a blast running homemade obstacle courses, looking for hidden gems, eating hot dogs, chips, cookies and cake. There were beach pails and beach balls given out as party favors. Perl held her ground and kept everything cold and frozen and provided a much appreciated sink with running water. We dubbed it an epic day filled with lots of fun.
After our party fun, I had to return Perl back to the RV doctor. It seems that the hydraulic pump needs to be replaced and the part is on order. It’s not something
that will cause a problem right away but we do need to take care of it. I’ve requested to have her back by June 24th. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. We also need to get the base plate installed on the CR-V so I can pull it. All in all, I’m glad this summer will be keeping us close to home, friends and family.
It’s a good pause to get everything in order before we head west. Ok, IF we head west, that way I won’t jinx myself :-). There are dental appointments, therapy sessions, a vehicle to get prepped for towing, a project here and there that needs to be taken care of with Perl, etc, etc. Hoping to get things all wrapped up by the end of summer. Speaking of wrapped up, check out that dad being cocooned! The kids had a blast with that one.
Not much else is going on around here. I have a kid with a mouthful of cavities, tsk, tsk. I’m taking the twins in tomorrow so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m feeling like I could really use a break right about now.
Can’t wait until I have Perl back for good and we can hit the road exploring. Until next time, party on folks!
