Travel Plans Part 3 and 4

Wow guys, I’m on a roll! Another post so soon and I’m not even on the road yet! Today I’m going to share with you Part III and Part IV of our eight month trip. We hope to be back on the east coast mid-May. So without further ado, here is the third leg of our trip.

Part III

Stop 2: Oakdale, CA. Our goal here is Yosemite National Park.

Stop 3: Eureka, CA. I wanted to make it all the way to northern California and check out the redwoods. This is our goal here. I originally wanted to head up the coast to Washington and head east, hitting Yellowstone. But I’m afraid it will be too cold at the time we’ll be there so we’ll save it for another time.

Stop 4: San Francisco, CA.  Clam Beach, Moonstone Beach and Crab Beach, what’s not to love? Throw in trolley cars, some more redwoods and Black Sand Beach and I’m good to go!

hollywood1pf1Stop 5: Los Angeles, CA. Hollywood, more beaches, more beaches and more beaches. You had me at ‘beach’.

Stop 6: Phoenix, AZ. There’s the Phoenix Zoo, Grasshopper Bridge, Pueblo Grande Ruin and Tonto National Park to name a few.

We hope to be leaving Phoenix Mid-March. The final leg of the trip looks like this:

Stop 1: Depart Phoenix

Stop 2: El Paso, TX. I wonder if I can get some salsa here. We could always hit up the National Border Patrol Museum. Yes, my head is shaking back and forth. Yea, this will be one of our shorter stops. I think we’ll stick to the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens and Tigua Indian Cultural Center.

Stop 3: San Antonio, TX. Looks like a zoo, some parks and botanical gardens. Not sure we’ll stay past a week but we’ll see.

Stop 4: Galveston, TX. Now we’re talking, a coastal retreat. There’s East Beach, Stewart Beach, beach, beach, beach. Yep, I’m good. Not sure if we’ll stay in Galveston but I’d like to. new orleans

Stop 5: New Orleans, LA. Doing this with kids in tow, oh my. I’ve been here before so my focus for the kids is the architecture, the local aquarium, riding the trolley, and simply all the charm New Orleans has to offer.

Stop 6: Pensacola, FL. What do you think we’re stopping here for? Ah, you’ve been paying attention. The beach of course. There’s also a cultural and aviation museums to explore.

Stop 7: Fair Play, SC. The main reason for this stop is a Thousand Trails campground. Which equals close to zero out-of-pocket for the travel budget, score. There are also several historical landmarks nearby.

Stop 8: VA, home sweet home!

I’m not sure how long we’ll be parking it at home. I don’t anticipate longer than a month but it will all depend on if my in-laws stay long-term or want to head back home. I would like to head north, possibly into Nova Scotia but that’s all too soon to predict.

So there you have it. A glimpse into the next eight months on the road. This will probably be my last post out until we’re in Maine. I have a ton of things to accomplish this week so my blogging time will be minimal.

Perl’s parked at a campground nearby cooling off. I’m trying to get some projects done such as organizing the bays, taking stuff out, stuffing stuff in and getting her all packed up for Saturday. It was REALLY hot working out there today. Tomorrow promises cooler temperatures!
