The Crazy Adventure

One day I, Debbie, started following a blog about a family traveling in a school bus converted into a rolling home. I thought that was the coolest thing and something I’d really love to do one day. So I started doing some research and found out that there are other families out there living the nomad lifestyle. And since we’re homeschoolers, why not. Sure beats sitting in one place and a whole lot more educational. So I held onto that dream until just the right moment.

The moment came in 2013 when we lost half of our income from our rental property……..for an entire year. We managed but we had no money for anything extra. Then one day I thought, why don’t we do it now. We discussed doing it as a family but decided that it was best if dad stayed home and continued to pull in his salary.  And he didn’t need to live in a 4400 square foot house on three acres by himself.

We put the house on the market. We waited and purged and waited and purged some more and waited and purged, you get the idea. Finally, eight long months later and most of our possessions gone, the house finally sold. We downsized into lil’ blue, a 1600 square foot house, a week before Christmas.

Hello lil’ blue

The search for the perfect RV began and in March 2015, we purchased Perl and started our journey. PERL is our Perfectly Enormous Rolling Lady. She’s a 36′ classy dame that has absolutely nothing to do with our lack of a sense of direction. She does her best to steer us straight in all kinds of crazy mayhem.

Perl was originally a Texas gal but was purchased and brought home to Virginia to start a big adventure with a new fun and loving clan. She boasts a side and back up camera, bunkhouse, two bathrooms, outdoor entertainment center, residential fridge and is just the perfect girl for us.
